Choose your horseback
vacation: We offer a standard mountain camping trip lasting three days
and two nights or camping trips can be customized to your specifications.
Fishing is available on all camping trips. Daytime activities are
up to you. Explore on horseback, fish, hike, watch the wildlife,
pick flowers or huckleberries - whatever gives you an enjoyable and relaxing
day.
We provide gentle
horses with all the equipment for riding. You do not have to be an
experienced rider. Your horse is used to the mountains, and will
take good care of you. A wrangler is riding with you at all times,
and is responsible for the care of your horse.
We have dry and comfortable
camps set up for you. We do the cooking. You bring your own
sleeping bag and pad, plus clothes. Be sure to bring a warm jacket
and a rain slicker, as well as personal toiletries and a flashlight.
Bring a collapsible fishing pole if you plant to fish. Bring plenty
of film for your camera!
Our mountain horseback
trip are designed for families or small groups. We ride in the Big
Belt and Elkhorn Mountains of southwest Montana. These mountains
were part of the main hunting grounds of most Northern Rocky Mountain Indian
tribes. The early fur trappers and gold prospectors traveled them
in search of their fortunes. The high country today is much the same
as it was then. The Big Belts and the Elkhorns are home to some of
the most plentiful and varied wildlife populations in Montana. The
Elkhorns are the first nationally designated Wildlife Management Area.
From the foothills to the highest mountain peaks, you'll enjoy breathtaking
scenery and some really fun riding. When we ride across Mount Edith,
the highest peak in the Big Belts, you'll be able to see other mountain
ranges that are over a hundred miles away. You'll never forget the
marvelous view.
Summer
trips run Monday through Friday, June 5 through August 5, 2006,
on
weeks when cattle drives and horse roundups aren't scheduled.
A
5 day, 4 night trip for 3 people or more is $1,100.00 each.
Our
3 day, 2 night trip for 3 people or more is $700.00 each.
Reservations are
required. A 50% nonrefundable deposit confirms your reservation.
